The Giraffe began as a smaller form I loved — elongated, sculptural, quietly commanding. A designer visiting my Brooklyn studio suggested I scale it up. I did, and it became first this table lamp, then a floor lamp.
The surface pattern — a hand painted black and white check that loosens and moves with the curves of the porcelain rather than sitting rigidly on top of them — came from the same period I was developing the Totem series. The patterns were already living in my head and this form called them out.
Each Giraffe is made entirely by hand in my Brooklyn studio. No two are exactly alike. Made to order with a six to ten week lead time
