Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese technique of layer clay to make a pattern that travels through the clay from front to back. It's pretty cool. I've done a riff on this technique, layering colored porcelain to make the grid pattern you see. It's pretty tedious but it sure looks fantastic when it's done.
